Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau Presents Ways to Utilize RailPasses in Kansai Area Through the Eyes of Rakugo Artists

Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau has released a video introducing 7 different styles of travel, using Osaka’s affordable rail passes in collaboration with 6 railway companies in Kansai area.  

Through 2 foreign rakugo comedy performers, who fell in love with Osaka, will introduce Osaka’s nightlife and the charm surrounding the railway area with humor, and in a fun atmosphere.

Destination No.1: Uji・Fushimi (Kyoto)

In this episode, the host Diane Kichijitsu will travel to Kyoto by riding the Keihan railway. She first visits Fushimi Inari shrine to walk through the many bright red shrine gates, then heads down to Uji city to get a taste of the best Japanese tea around.

Destination No.2: Arashiyama (Kyoto)

In this episode, the host Diane Kichijitsu will use the Hankyu train line to visit Arashiyama, where she starts off by touring around town riding a Jinrikisha. She will go through an exclusive path at the iconic bamboo forests, and then reach a beautiful Zen temple.

Destination No.3: Koyasan

In this episode, the host Diane Kichijitsu will travel to Koyasan deep in Wakayama prefecture by riding the Nankai train line. She first explores the temple grounds and sacred buddhist sights as the beautiful autumn leaves show their vibrant colors. And then, she enjoys some delicious vegetarian Buddhist cuisine at Shukubo.

Destination No.4: Hiroshima

In this episode, the host Katsura Fukuryu will travel to Hiroshima by riding the JR bullet train, sightseeing around the Peace Memorial Park, and learn how to cook delicious local style Okonomiyaki.

Destination No.5: Ise-shima

In this episode, the host Katsura Fukuryu will travel to Ise-shima by using the Kintetsu railway. Starting at Mikimoto Pearl Island and learning about the history of pearl cultivation, he then goes to eat delicious fresh seafood hand-caught by the woman divers of Ise-shima.

Destination No.6: Kobe city
