Tokyo, Nov. 28th, 2019 – Hanzo.inc, ltd ＆ TOKYO DUB AGENT COMPANY, LTD.（the Ukiyoe companery ＆ the marketing agency）announced the launch of Hokusai “Shunga” Reproduction project at Kickstarter.
This project is a reprint of “Shunga” works in order to pass on the traditional Japanese engraving / printing techniques and technologies that were developed during the Edo period for the next generation.
With these funds collected from all your art enthusiasts, together with the active craftsmen (painters, engravers, and ink printers) who inherited and still practice with this technology, we will create “real ukiyo-e” and showcase the essence of Japan’s world-renowned Japonisme. We also want new generations around the world to be interested in Japanese ukiyo-e, in order to keep the art alive. This project incorporates this desire to connect with a tradition from Japanese history that has been handed down through generations.
In addition to the products, this reward includes a tour where you can visit craftsmen in Japan and experience Ukiyo-e, making it an irresistible experience for Ukiyo-e fans.
