TOKYO, Oct. 15, 2013 — Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, is showcasing its intelligent transport system (ITS) solutions at the 20th Intelligent Transport Systems World Congress (ITS 2013), which is held in Tokyo, Japan from October 14 to October 18, 2013.
Mr. Wang Hanchao, President of Huawei Global Transport Industry Department, Mr. Akio Toyoda, President and CEO of Toyota Motor Corporation, and Mr. Norio Sasaki, Chairman of CEATEC Japan Organizing Committee, together cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony of ITS 2013 at 11:30 on October 15, declared the Congress opening successful.
Echoing “Open ITS to the Next”, the theme of ITS World Congress, Huawei believes that next-generation intelligent transport systems should enable enterprises at the transport sector and travelers to achieve agile operation, convenient user experience, and enhanced safety. In light of this, Huawei has developed a series of ITS solutions for different aspects of the transport sector, including enterprise long term evolution (eLTE) broadband trunking solution, emergency communications solution, big data transport solution and transport bearer network solution, to help transport management organizations deploy an efficient, stable, and sustainable ICT system.
To enable visitors of ITS World Congress to experience firsthand the agility and efficiency brought about by Huawei’s latest ITS technologies, the following solutions will be highlighted during ITS World Congress:
- eLTE Broadband Trunking Dispatching Solution: it provides customers in the transportation industry with the world’s first LTE-based broadband trunking system, which transmits real-time video communications between a dispatch center and on-site personnel in addition to basic trunking functions.
- Huawei Emergency Communications Solution: this solution supports “one-key dispatch” function which delivers quick response to communications from different devices, such as fixed and mobile phones or trunking terminals. It significantly improves dispatch efficiency by over 70% and mitigates losses from traffic incidents.
- Big Data Transport Solution: this solution integrates high performance storage and data-center switching supported by the benefits brought about by FusionCube to support high performance requirements of business analytics.
- Intelligent Transport Bearer Network Solution: it is based on the hybrid Multiple Service Transport Platform (MSTP) system that implements a unified, ultra-stable and low latency network for carrying voice, video, and data.
Huawei’s ITS solutions have been widely deployed by customers around the world, including a customized ITS project in Langfang, Hebei Province in China, Moldova ITS project, and the national backbone network project of China’s Ministry of Transport. The Langfang ITS project has been highlighted specially in the Connected World – Transforming Travel, Transport and Supply Chains Report at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
“Over the past decade, Huawei solutions have been supporting transport networks around the world, covering a distance of over 85,000 kilometers, and over 70% of highways in China are supported by our optical transmission systems,” said Mr. Nie Xianzheng, General Manager of Huawei Global Transport Solutions Department. “Huawei is committed to the development of the urban intelligent transport market through a variety of projects, like the ITS project in Langfang and wireless networking communications modules for Mercedes-Benz. Moving forward, Huawei will continue to dedicate unwavering commitment to the innovation of technologies for the transport sector, enabling transport service providers and government administrations to enhance operational efficiency and safety of transportation networks.”
